Pastel glitter and silk

Pastel glitter and silk

Two new polishes on show in this springy pastel manicure. The teal is one of the new Barry M Silk range. It’s really unusual – like a matte satin polish with a metallic sheen. I just bought this colour, Meadow (because teal is my favourite¬†of course) but my Mum was lusting after these today so … Continue reading

Chilli-bright chevrons

Chilli-bright chevrons

I wanted to do something really bright and bold and I think these nails fit the bill. The colours are all by Barry M Gelly: Passionfruit (red), Guava (turquoise) and Blue Grape (royal blue). They’re all pretty opaque which is perfect for this kind of look. I got the chevron look with narrow strips of … Continue reading

Cartoon sparkle party nails

Cartoon sparkle party nails

These nails were just a combo of two of my favourite polishes and then some extra embellishments on top. The pale green is Nails Inc Hyde Park Corner which I’ve managed to use about half of already (very unusual when your collection of nail polishes is around the 150 mark) – it’s … Continue reading

Neon glitter gradient

Neon glitter gradient

So I saw on The Nailasaurus that Claire’s Accessories had revamped its polish range and popped in for a little look-see. Turned out that she was spot on and I left with three new polishes, all of which you can expect to see over the next few weeks. The neon pink glitter in this manicure … Continue reading

Understated glam

Understated glam

Some very tasteful nails today which bear some resemblance to a very old manicure I did a long time ago. These ones use NYC Full Metal Jacket (just love it) and Nails Inc Porchester Square, that understated¬†nude/greige base. They also turn the half-moons I did on my previous iteration into these, which I suppose you … Continue reading

A favourite sweatshirt

A favourite sweatshirt

I asked for an ‘exciting’ sweatshirt for Christmas this year and I got it: this lovely one, as modelled by Jessica Alba. I’ve been wearing it loads (despite not looking like Jessica Alba) so I thought I might try out some nails to match. This uses a couple of the new Nails Inc polishes I … Continue reading

(Unintentionally) festive plaid

(Unintentionally) festive plaid

When I painted these nails (back in November! eep!) I was just picking colours that I thought looked good together; but I got a lot of comments about how festive they were. I suppose they do draw on the red, green and gold Christmas palette but personally I think they’d work for any time of … Continue reading

Matte metallics

Matte metallics

This manicure uses one of the new nail varnishes I got for Christmas, Nails Inc Old Park Lane, which is the bronze metallic colour. The pale gold is NYC Full Metal Jacket (a really sparkly silver-toned gold which is an absolute bargain in Superdrug) and the base is Barry M Espresso, a matte black polish … Continue reading

Teeny tiny tasteful dots

Teeny tiny tasteful dots

Just a quick post of what was a quick-and-easy manicure. I used my white Barry M Nail Art Pen to make little polka dots which livened up a base of Topshop Pool Party. Simple but effective! I reckon they have a kind of Cath Kidston vibe which (in moderation) I very much like.

Embellished green and gold

Embellished green and gold

This manicure uses two products from Born Pretty Store (there’s a link and a discount code in the right-hand column of this page): ‘gold leaf’ (really, very thin sheets of gold-coloured foil) and the rectangular studs you can see on my thumb, ring and pinkie fingers. The gold leaf is something I occasionally find myself … Continue reading
