Teeny tiny tasteful dots

Teeny tiny tasteful dots

Just a quick post of what was a quick-and-easy manicure. I used my white Barry M Nail Art Pen to make little polka dots which livened up a base of Topshop Pool Party. Simple but effective! I reckon they have a kind of Cath Kidston vibe which (in moderation) I very much like. Advertisements

Ain’t no party like a Green Room party

Ain’t no party like a Green Room party

These are possibly the funnest most party nails I have ever done!┬áSomething about the combination of pink, teal, glitter and gems just screams ‘GOOD TIMES FOR EVERYBODY’! The beautiful glitter on my thumb, ring and pinkie fingers is (of course) Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop, brought back by my lovely parents from NYC. As before, I … Continue reading

Neontastic

Neontastic

Sometimes you just gotta paint your nails the brightest colours you can find in your Helmer. That’s what I did in this manicure, a super-luminous neon gradient that I couldn’t stop showing off to everybody I saw. The purple is China Glaze Flying Dragon, the pink is China Glaze Pool Party, and the orange is … Continue reading

Turquoise and studs

Turquoise and studs

I’d seen a few turquoise stone manicures on the internet (including this one at Spektor’s Nails) and I love turquoise jewellery so I thought I would have a punt at doing one myself. Here’s how it turned out. Not bad at all, right?? I mattified the turquoise nails to make them look more realistic and … Continue reading

Ikat

Ikat

OH NO NOT MORE TEAL AND CORAL. … OH YES! I had been wanting to try the ikat trend for ages and when I wanted a quick manicure the other day it seemed just the ticket. This is (you almost don’t need telling by now) a base of Topshop Pool Party (as seen here, here … Continue reading

Sci-fi speckles

Sci-fi speckles

I don’t know why this feels a bit sci-fi to me but IT JUST DOES, OK? Something about the black speckle polish looks like frogspawn. ALIEN FROGSPAWN. In a good way, of course. The speckle polish is W7 Salt n Pepper, one of two W7 polishes I bought off Amazon (the other is the teal … Continue reading

Stripes for spring

Stripes for spring

I love stripes and I love the combination of red and blue so this is a nice straightforward little manicure that I was very happy with. The background is OPI Skull’n’Glossbones, the blue is Topshop AWOL and the red is Miss Sporty Tangerine Fatal (I think! they don’t have names on the bottles). Also, a … Continue reading

Pretty in pink

Pretty in pink

I am very pleased with the colours on these nails! They’re such a nice combination, pink and pretty but not at all garish. I used some new stash to do this manicure. The glitter (which as you can see is absolutely beautiful, gold microglitter with bigger chunks of rose pink) is from A-England and is … Continue reading

Blue ruffles

Blue ruffles

A bit more tasteful after all the Christmas kitsch: ruffly nails in blue, purple, green and gold. To get this effect you need five polishes which are opaque in one coat: I used Urban Outfitters Crowded (the lilac), Topshop Pool Party (the teal), Nails Inc Belgrave Place (the purple) and Lanesborough Place (the gold), and … Continue reading

Marching band nails

Marching band nails

These were conceived as a glitter gradient: I used Barry M White as a base and then dabbed over some loose white-blue snowy glitter I picked up in Covent Garden aaaaages ago. For the blue I used Barry M Aqua Glitter over a base of Topshop Green Room. It looked nice and sparkly but my … Continue reading
